From inky depths to a few starry white spots, this hand-dyed interpretation of the Cosmic Cliffs formation in the Carina Nebula was inspired by the newest space photography of the Webb Telescope. The primary tones are a deep cobalt and a warm copper, and the blending of dyes, tricks of heat and acid, and unique interactions of each fiber add exciting new undertones, highlights, and complements in every color for a truly cosmic finish.
Combed top, sometimes referred to as wool roving, is a commercially prepared fiber for spinning yarn and other wool crafts such as felting. Ours is carefully selected, hand-painted, and packed with care for you to spark your own creativity. This listing is for one 4oz braid of top.
Falkland wool refers not to any specific breed, but instead to the fine, exceptionally bright white wool produced from the networked wool pool of the Falkland Islands. It can contain fibers from sheep and crosses such as Polwarth, Merino, Romney, and Corriedale. While this can create some variation in Falkland wool from various sources, it comes with the island's tightly managed sheep flocks' health, which results in fleece that is naturally disease and pest resistant. Our Falkland is comfortable next to the skin, and suitable for snuggly garments.
